YOUTH HOLD THE KEY TO THE FUTURE

President Paul Kagame, on Friday, told over 300 students currently taking part in civic education –itorero, to take advantage of the existing peace and available technology to make their contribution to the development of the country. The civic education programme, as noted, will help the students studying abroad to reconnect with their country and culture. Indeed, the current generation of youth, have been availed opportunities that were unthinkable several years ago. These range from good governance, women’s rights and education for all. At the same time technological innovations have ensured that the world is highly connected more than ever before. Young people are more technologically savvy and uniquely positioned to take advantage of innovations especially in Information and Communications Technology, and hence play a leading role in the economic transformation of the country. The government has offered the youth numerous opportunities for their education and exposure at home and abroad. More so, they play a leading role in implementation of government programmes and many have been given opportunities, on completion of their education, to serve their country. It is imperative that all youth realize that they hold the key to the future and have what it takes to make it. By seizing available opportunities, they will play their part and also ensure that they live a self sustaining and dignified life. Ends
