After The Ben who headlined the 'Blankets & Wine' show twice as well as Bruce Melodie, Mike Kayihura is another Rwandan star to perform at the concert which is among the biggest stages in Kampala, Uganda. The annual concert held at the 'Lugogo Cricket Oval', attracts over 20,000 revelers, and this time it will have a taste of the rich sound produced in Rwanda through Kayihura’s performance. Kayihura is expected to join the likes of Tracy Melon, Akeine, Joshua Baraka, Azawi, Bensoul and many others at this year’s edition slated for April 30. Speaking to The New Times, the ‘Tuza’ hit-maker said that he is delighted to take his sound again to neighboring countries where he has a large fan base. He further said that performing at the concert also indicates how Rwandan music is gaining recognition from outsiders and taking over the whole East African region. “Uganda has shown much love for Rwandan music and I can’t wait to show them what we’ve got this time,” says Kayihura. Rwandan artistes began to be considered for this show that has already built a name in Uganda after producing bangers and creating strong ties with Ugandan musicians. The Ben was invited to Blankets & Wine in 2018, while Melodie headlined it in 2022 as the main guest performer of the event It is not the first time that Mike Kayihura is going to perform in Kampala, in 2022 he was invited to a concert where he met other famous artists in Uganda. Blankets & Wine is a quarterly, picnic-style, family friendly music festival. Blankets & Wine held its first event in Kampala in August 2012 and has since grown to holding three to four events a year. Blankets & Wine Music Experience is based on four to five musical acts with different styles of urban. About Kayihura Mike Kayihura is a 29-year-old Rwandan storyteller and R&B singer and songwriter with many hits to his name. He rose to stardom in Rwanda after dropping a number of tracks including ‘Anytime’, ‘Zuba’, ‘Tuza’, ‘Sabrina’ and many others that appeared on EPs dubbed ‘Jaribu’ and ‘Zuba’. Kayihura also won the attention and admiration of music lovers through his Friday live sets at Lavanna.
