Kirabo is the new Eastern Province RPF chairperson

KAYONZA – The Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF), yesterday, held an extraordinary meeting during which members elected new party representatives at various administrative levels in the Eastern Province. Dr Aisa Kacyira Kirabo, the provincial governor, was elected chairperson at the provincial level with an overwhelming majority. She will be deputized by Dr. Yereme Ayabagabo, from Bugesera District, who stood unopposed. Dr. Kirabo thanked the party members for their support and promised to serve them diligently. Kirabo, who was given a standing ovation when she stood up to give her speech, said that RPF will always work for the good of all Rwandans. “I competed for the post to serve the people... I have been serving RPF for quite a long time and I will not tire doing so. I will work hard to uphold the already existing democratic system within the RPF”. Monique Mukaruliza, the commissioner in charge of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in the RPF, oversaw the electoral process and praised the manner in which the elections were held. Mukaruliza, also the Minister in charge of EAC Affairs, said the calmness and respect demonstrated by the voters was indication of their political maturity. “I am satisfied with the way the election was conducted.. it was.free and fair. This is typical of a party that works for the betterment of people’s lives. Those elected will start working for the party and the country forthwith,” she said. MP Theoneste Safari, who handed over to the new commitee, on behalf of the outgoing provincial party chairman and former governor, Dr Ephraim Kabaija, observed that RPF has performed exceptionally well in all areas across the country. Safari, an outgoing committee member of RPF at the province, noted that the culture of excellence has increasingly grown strong among the people. “This province performed extraordinary well in the past presidential elections...in discipline, accountability, hard work, among others; this is a culture I am sure the new committee will work to maintain,” he said.
