Ntagwabira warns Rayon

Coach to meet chairman to resolve future JEAN Marie Ntagwabira wants to discuss Rayon Sport’s financial prospects with Albert Rudatsimbura before committing his future to the club, Times Sport has learnt. The former APR, Atraco and Kiyovu coach is willing to stay on as coach but maintains that the onus is on the blues board to convince him the club has the means to compete in the transfer market. Ntagwabira’s contract expired last month and the 38-year-old insists he will only sign a contract extension once the club guarantees him availability of funds to bring in more players. “I want things to be done now because if you delay and miss out, you end up going for your second or third option,” he said. “That is no way to build a team that can challenge for the Primus League title,” Ntagwabira stressed. On a positive note, Rayon has tied up Burundi’s Karim Mckenzie and Abouba Sibomana. Last week, the pair signed two-year-deals that will keep the players at the club until 2013. Mckenzie, who can play in central defense or right back position, joined the blues from Kiyovu in the middle of last season, while left back Sibomana who had been courted by Police decided to stay with the blues. The club has also snapped up Kiyovu midfielder Faud Ndayisenga but Ntagwabira still insists that there is still a lot to be done. “We want to challenge APR on all fronts next season but to do that, we need a strong squad which literally means that we have to sign more players,” he added. Ntagwabira is regarded as one of the best coaches in the country after winning seven trophies with APR (three league trophies, three Amahoro Cup titles and a Cecafa Cup trophy) and a league title with Atraco.
