Jacque’s Vibes :Rwanda, my Motherland

As far as the East is from the West, so far did I feel from my motherland—Rwanda. When Rwanda is mentioned, in a twinkle of an eye one thinks of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi but there is more than that, something beautiful about this country—‘Agaciro.’ This is the indescribable feeling, value, beauty and pride of being Rwandan, and better still, living in my motherland.Rwanda is home to thousands of people living in the Diaspora. Near or far, nothing is better than being where you belong. Rwanda welcomes people with open hands; it welcomed thousands of us and is still willing to receive more of its very own; after all, East or West home is best. Rwanda is where peace dwells; I greatly believe that there is no place better than home. Beauty, another word for Rwanda, is what we harbor. This is what makes us proud to be Rwandan. The beauty of Rwandans is not only manifested on the people’s physical appearance but extends as far as the inner person. Rwandans are very hospitable, kind, loving and accommodative. The Land of a Thousand hills that flows with milk and honey is where anyone would wish to dwell. Thinking of the mountain gorillas commonly known as, “Ibyiza by’u Rwanda,” also makes one shout praises to the Almighty—such great blessings. The mountain gorillas are a tourist attraction, bringing in visitors from across the globe, who desire to know and visit our beautiful homeland. A friend of mine from Uganda just took a close look at the city as he drove on the roads. He then told me, “One would stop to think – are these roads in Rwanda or am I somewhere else.” I replied, “this is just a little bit of what you are yet to see.” When evening comes, you would not wish to leave the city, it shines, with a perfect view. The streets are safe because there is security all over. Rwanda protects her children; when in Rwanda you certainly feel very safe. She cuddles you and makes you feel loved and it is everyone’s desire to be loved. There is always a natural attachment that a mother will always have for her children, as far as you may be you will always feel that you certainly need to find your mother, thus finding your way back to her. Rwanda is a perfect mother that will receive you even when you are a prodigal child: Home is where you belong, just fall back into Her arms. Thank you Rwanda for mothering us! jacqueuwera@yahoo.com
