KAYONZA — Scores of pupils of Mburabuturo Primary School who failed to attain a pass mark in last year’s Primary Leaving Examinations are blaming their head teacher for their failure. Pupils who talked to The New Times recently, accuse the head teacher Veneranda Muganwa, 32, who also serves as a teacher of being rude and offering shallow explanations while teaching. They claim that Muganwa does not entertain questions while in class. Jackie Uwiragiye, one of the pupils said Muganwa’s conduct alienates her from pupils. Uwiragiye alleges that upon entering class, the head teacher could tell girls that they were wasting their time because men were eyeing to impregnate them, a statement the pupils claim served to discourage them. Out of 33 candidates who sat the exams, only two passed. When contacted, the headmistress declined to comment over the matters. However, sources say Muganwa, also former teacher at Shogo Primary School, in Kibungo was dismissed from the former school over her conduct. The current head teacher of Mburabuturo Primary School was beaten by Shogo pupils due to her conduct towards them, said Balekayo Matirida, another pupil. She would have behaved like a parent but she has no parental heart, said Uwiragiye. Some parents who had sought positions for their children to repeat primary six, last week, also expressed disappointment with the head teacher. Ends
