Charity to educate 100 Rwandan students

Food For Thought Africa (FFTA), a charity organisation that helps educate and feed poor children, has pledged Frw65.4 million (approx. $120,000) to sponsor 100 Rwandan secondary school students for six years. The donation was announced yesterday during a meeting between visiting trustees of FFTA and the First Lady, Mrs. Jeannette Kagame. We have partnered with the First Lady’s project, Imbuto Foundation, to sponsor 100 students for their entire secondary school, said Meave Marnell, one of the trustees of FFTA. She said that FFTA has established collaboration with Imbuto Foundation to empower Rwandan children through education. Marnell was in the company of her husband, Eamonn Marnell, and Denise Kennedy, both FFTA trustees. Eamonn said that he and his colleagues may also start providing food aid to children in primary schools soon. We are going to start a pilot study in one school to see how feasible it is and we will proceed later to other schools, he said. The Director General of Imbuto Foundation Radegonde Ndejuru said that each of the beneficiary students would get $ 200 (approx. Frw 110,000) annually for tuition and other school needs. FFTA will assist those students from Senior One up to the time they complete their Senior Six through Imbuto Foundation, she said.Ends
