Dear editor, Due to the current poor academic performance of students in the country, I suggest that the ministry of education considers phasing out end of year examinations. Previously examinations results in all levels were poorly done but this cannot be used to judge the students’ ability as far as excelling is concerned. Final examinations for candidate classes are sat for only three hours and therefore the student’s fate is all determined in only these three hours. In case a student falls sick and is unable to sit the final examinations he/she is regard as a failure. This does not only being a frustration and low esteem to the students but also to the teachers and parents as well. I request the ministry to seriously consider using continuous assessments arrangement in order to be able to get the accurate strength and abilities of students. Though this scheme, the school teachers will also be in a batter position to help the weaker students.Kabeza
