Bullying should be discouraged

At school you will always find different kinds of children. There are those who are serious with there books, we might as well call them “book worms”; they seem to always be buried in their books. There are also those who just want to keep around distracting others by bullying. Bullying is a big problem. Most children who are bullied are hurt, scared, embarrassed and sad at all times. Bullies hit, kick, or push fellow children while at school. They threaten, tease, scare or even give nicknames such as “Kibonge”, to make their fellow children feel inferior. A bully says mean words to a child, grab their friend’s property with force, make fun of someone and try to discourage fellow pupils at school from being friends. Some bullies threaten others into doing things they don’t want to do. Bullying affects Children. Three-quarters of all children say they have been bullied or teased at school.. Children refuse to go to school or even go out to play with others because of the fear of being bullied. This can later affect a child’s academic performance since it’s hard to concentrate in class because they are scared of a bully seated next to them. Bullying bothers everyone; it instils fear in children or they end up hating school. At times some children become violent because of bullying. Therefore teachers should try to see to it that this bad habit of bullying stops in schools so that children can have a welcoming environment for studying. jacqueuwera@yahoo.com
