Insight:Do not give him your entire heart

We’ve been told to always give our all in life. Whereas that may be true, I beg to point out that with matters concerning the heart that line does not apply. Ladies, we must keep a certain percentage to ourselves. That is what will keep us together when things fall apart. Have you ever loved a man so much, you felt you would literally die without him? That is the kind of thing you should stop telling yourself. Because the only thing convincing you that you can’t live without this man is you! Annette Mukanganizi 27 years old says men are a waste of time and that the world would be a better place without them. “I dated this guy for almost three years and I was the only one working at the time. He stayed with me and I was paying for almost everything. I really didn’t mind, since I loved him with all my soul,” Mukanganizi narrates. We broke up after I caught him red handed with his ex, in my house!!’ exclaims a bitter Mukanganizi who swears those years she spent with him were a complete waste of time and money! Now this story is not new because lots of women in the world can relate to this scenario. “I don’t know who came up with the line ‘all men are dogs’ but we must take that person seriously. Men are there to confuse us. They make you believe they are serious about you and then drop you like a bad habit,” Mukanganizi says. I honestly think there are still a few decent brothers out there but finding them is harder than it was finding Osama Bin Laden. So we end up taking risks which is why we have to save 20% of our hearts for the heartbreak that will surely follow! One of my favorite quotes is ‘love like you’ve never been hurt’ and I am all for it except I must save a bit of my heart for me. Yes, heartbreaks all hurt the same but trust me, that 20% will come in handy when you get the sudden urge to blow your brains out! We will like, love and marry these ‘dogs’ in a heartbeat but if you save a little of this love for yourself, it might not seem even half as bad when he eventually decides your friend is better than you. All I am saying is let us try not to love stupidly, at least love him enough for him to know it, but not too much for him to think he can do anything he very well pleases, get away with it and leave you so beaten down you have no idea when you’ll ever get up again. rachelgaruka@yahoo.co.uk
