Tardy warns Junior Wasps to battle for World Cup slots

THE Rwanda U17 players have been warned to prove that they deserve to be in the final team which will participate in the Fifa U-17 World Cup finals to be held in Mexico from June 18-July 10, 2011. Head coach Richard Tardy said on Thursday in a press conference that players should battle for the World Cup slots or else face elimination. “These players must understand that they are responsible, they are not young and I urge everyone in the team to do his best to be in the final 21-man squad which will represent Rwanda in the World Cup finals,” “They must change their mentality and know that this point is a crucial one for their profession and Rwanda at large. The best will play in Mexico only,” added Tardy. The Frenchman hinted that the final team which will represent Rwanda in the World Cup finals will be named after the one-week training camp in Germany. “I hope to fly to USA with 21 players who will take part in the World Cup finals and no one is granted a place at the moment. Everyone must do his best to prove to the technical team that they are ready for the battle in Mexico,” added Tardy. The junior wasps leave for North London this Sunday ahead of their friendly match against Tottenham on May 18. They will also visit Wembley stadium on the invitation of the English FA before connecting to Frankfurt the following day. In London, Tardy will access the level of new players- Alfred Mugabo (Arsenal U-16) and Seef Murenzi (Coventry) before deciding whether to summon them for the World Cup finals. The junior wasps have also secured services of new player Faruk Saifi Ruhinda who plays for Uganda super league side Express FC. The skillful striker will add steel upfront and improve on the goal drought. Ends
