Rhineland-Palatinate state honours Genocide victims

The state of Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany last week paid tribute to victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. The service to honour the victims was organised by EichendorffgymnasiumKoblenz secondary school students under the theme; “To remember means to live.” Speaking at the event, Christine Nkulikiyinka Rwanda’s Ambassador to Germany thanked the young people for their deep commitment towards commemorating the genocide. Nkulikiyinka stressed that it is the duty of everyone to ensure that the truth is upheld and the dignity preserved. This, she said would contribute towards the construction of a better Rwanda and world. On behalf of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate, minister Lewentz, expressed his wish to see more young people engaged in the partnership. “Since the end of the genocide, Rhineland-Palatinate commemorates the victims annually. This demonstrates the vivid partnership between the people of the two states,” he said. EichendorffgymnasiumKoblenz secondary school has a special partnership with Ecole de Lettres de Gatovu located in Nyabihu District in the Western Province. Ends
