Space in homes has become quite a thing, unless you have your own home. My friend is getting married and one of the things I was helping her out with was looking for an apartment. We got to see many of the apartments; the only problem was that none was big enough to accommodate furniture from two homes once they get married. So as we kept on visiting one apartment to the other, we came across one very beautiful apartment with everything she needed, but the only hindrance was that the living room was not large enough to accommodate my friend’s wall unit. She pictured everything in place save for the wall unit. As we were having lunch I realized my friend had lost her appetite, because the one apartment she liked could not accommodate her wall unit. We kept on exploring on ideas about the wall unit until when I told her to sell it. Where will I put my TV and decoder she asked forlornly, as I was thinking of an answer looking around the beautiful bistro that we were having lunch at, I saw a suspended shelf at the corner used to portray some beautiful ornaments, and an idea of having in built floating shelves for my friend’s apartment came up. I took her hand up to where the floating shelf was and I told her to try such a thing in her apartment as a TV stand, after a few minutes she was beside herself with joy. Later in the afternoon she paid for the said apartment and plans were underway to have the floating shelves fixed in instead of the wall unit, which she decided to give to her mother. Floating shelves provide an element of decoration in a room and act as functional storage space. The benefit of using floating shelves is that they need minimal space since they are hung from the wall and are available in an array of shapes, materials and colors, so they can suit any room in a home or office and they are also easy to install. For example a floating shelf to act as a TV stand should be heavier and stronger to be able to stand the weight of the TV. Thus, wood is a good material for this kind of work. As for the glass floating shelf should facilitate storage of items not used very frequently and keeping the clutter away, thus giving the place a neat organized look.
