Let’s commend Chaka Chaka!

Dear Editor, Out of the many people with strong feelings for Rwanda, I think South African music legend Yvonne Chaka Chaka deserves praise. Even if she is a Unicef goodwill ambassador meant to help disaster affected people, her commitment and concern towards Rwanda and the earth victims means a lot. Firstly, she visited Rwanda in November last year as a guest singer during Kigali City’s centenary celebrations and now back to help those displaced and heavily affected by the earthquakes. Despite the people’s spirit in Cyangugu (in Rusizi District) to try and have a new beginning, Chaka chaka was instead inspired and therefore found it necessary to come and help. Committed she was, she decided to traveled alongside Mrs. Jeanette Kagame to the affected regions in both Rusizi and Nyamasheke districts on Monday. And above all, appealed to all Rwandans to help contribute emergency relief to the victims of the earthquakes. In her appeal, she said that everyone in the society has a role to play; anyone can do something. It does not have to be Angelina Jolie or Chaka Chaka to organise a charity concert or anything. This is right since no one is so poor that he has nothing to give and no one is so rich that he can’t receive anymore. So, we can all help; we are all equal and we can do different things to help. However, thanks to the Government’s quick response in saving and helping lives but let’s also applaud individual, sole efforts that are outstanding. Kigali
