Needy residents in Rulindo to get free health insurance

RULINDO - Over 150 needy residents in Rulindo District were yesterday subscribed to the community health insurance scheme, Mutuelle de Sante through the Association for Agro-pastoralist Development (ADAP). The organisation also donated iron sheets to ten residents whose houses were destroyed by heavy rains that struck parts of the district recently. The beneficiaries, who included victims of the adverse weather, were selected from the three sectors of Bushoki, Base and Rusiga. The Director of ADAP, Jacques Irakiza, said the donation was aimed at assuring the health of residents in the district. “We wanted the beneficiaries, especially those whose houses were destroyed by heavy rains, not to consider building thatched houses,” said Irakiza, adding that the organisation was working with cooperative societies in the district to extend agricultural services to residents. Jeanette Uwamahoro, one of the beneficiaries, said she had no hope of rebuilding her house after it was destroyed by heavy downpour. “Now that I have been given iron sheets, I will only worry about other costs,” said Uwamahoro, adding that she had temporarily been sheltered by a neighbour ever since her house was swept away. Pierre Claver Nzeyimana, the Executive Secretary of Boshoki Sector, said authorities would soon establish the number of needy residents to extend support through different organisations. Ends
