Genocide: MHC releases list of slain journalists

The Media High Council (MHC), yesterday, released a list of journalists killed during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. The list contains 50 names, including 43 practicing journalists affiliated to several media houses and seven free lancers. Patrice Mulama, the Executive Secretary of MHC, pointed out that the list was not final, observing that they expected more names from relatives and friends of deceased. “The list is not exhaustive; we think that there is room to continue submitting the names of colleagues they think could have been killed in the Genocide.”“It believed that the majority were killed because they were Tutsi, and not journalists,” Mulama said.
