Jean Baptiste Gatete’s life sentence is good news

Editor,I am pleased to learn that the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), in Arusha, has finally handed a life sentence to Jean Baptiste Gatete, after finding him guilty of genocide.I come from Eastern Province, and Gatete’s key role in the genocide in this area, is well documented. Survivors have testified with vivid evidence that Gatete is responsible for the massacres of thousands of Tutsis in three parishes of Rwankuba, Kiziguro and Mukarange.
