THE volleyball federation needs Rwf80m to successfully host the Zone 5 championship; an event which doubles as a qualifier for the 2011 All Africa Games slated for September in Maputo, Mozambique. The local federation’s Executive Secretary Gertrude Kubwimana also disclosed that the number of participating teams in down to four; (Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda and Burundi) following last minute exits by Sudan, Egypt, Djibouti, Somali, Tanzania and Eritrea. In the build-up to the tournament, national volleyball Coach Paul Bitok singled out Kenya as Rwanda’s biggest threat before noting that Rwanda’s strong serves could be the difference between the sides. The teams are expected to arrive this afternoon.
