Meet me under the cherry blossoms

Just like me, my best friend Michael has a long history of unsuccessful relationships. The most touching story he never stops to repeat is about Asami, his Japanese girlfriend who died in labour pains. They first met at a picnic park outside Kyoto-Japan and got engaged the same day. Their second meeting became their date night at Asami’s place. Michael swears of never having seen an average crib that beautiful before. For weeks of their romance, Asami never mentioned being a stripper. Michael, who was on an exchange internship in the country never bothered to ask either. One Friday night, Michael joined Kyoto’s DX-Tohji strip club, one of the most happening downtown. He was shocked at meeting his girlfriend there, doing a strip tease. He left immediately and Asami rushed behind him with apologies. The two reunited a few days after the blonde promised to quit her job. Michael was also happy to secure her a job at a gym run by his Rwandese friend, Aime. Micheal says that Asami mostly enjoyed hanging out with him under the cherry tree (Asian flower tree) outside her home. It is under this tree, that she also told him about her two months pregnancy, with his baby. When time for birth approached, Michael was both excited for being close to fatherhood, and terrified by his love’s yells in pain. It is sad that Asami never survived the caesarean section, though the baby girl made it. Two days after the funeral, Asami’s best friend Chieko who was always by her side in the hospital gave Micheal a note that was left by Asami. It read, “Sorry I know how hard it is, telling you now that there is another father of the baby. Pliz meet me under the cherry blossoms after here and I will explain- not now” “Perhaps she thought that she would leave the hospital alive,” say Michael with a sad look. It has been six years since Asami died and Micheal is back in Africa. Recently the father of ‘his’ daughter reconnected with him, courtesy of Facebook. The most disappointing part is that the girl’s father is Michael’s old friend, Aime. She gave in to his sexual demands in fear of losing her job. Michael still blames himself for ushering Asami to the monster boss. Ends
