Relationships: Age is more than a number

Dilly darling with a spouse twice older than you is in my view sad. Save your dear nerves, unless you want a volatile end. Why go for old yet there are fresh beans. You can do better than material and cheap care. Is love worth buying anyway? Don’t fall for ridiculous excuses surrounding cross generation marriages/dating. Dating a person older indeed sucks, for its consequences are clearly highlighted. An older spouse will of course despise you. It’s simple logic—your kid brother will respect you while a bigger sibling will always demand impossible respect. The same is true for couples who are generations apart. The question is; would you feel compatible with a person as good as your grandfather or grandmother?Long lasting relationships are based on true love, yet it rarely happens with cross generation marriages. For instance older men marry for company and to feel youthful all over again while younger girls marry for the material gains that come with the territory. Imagine marrying someone because you want to inherit their property! There are several reasons for marrying why people marry older partners but selfish cultural mantra leads them all. Dating older people is indeed old fashioned; our ancestors married men as their fathers because society viewed them as wise and wealthy. Today, many resources are at our disposal, anyone can work hard and get rich, without having to pass through the horrible experience of dating for money. With the rampant HIV/AIDs deaths, it would be foolish to throw your live away to sugar mums and dad with suicidal intentions of infecting the younger generation. Anyway, there is nothing good with cross generation dating. Do you need policing? Date an older person. They will nag you with calls, rudely talk to you because they think you are a child and not think much of your opinions…the list is endless. All this emotional baggage will be unavoidable; afterall he is old enough to be insecure. Love and intimacy often go hand in hand but honestly, who would love to get intimate with an older person? And of course when both parties get exploitative, this is when crimes related to love happen. When it comes to serious relationships, I strongly advise both young and old people to reconsider the age factor. And someone twice your age shouldn’t be on your search list. lillianean@yahoo.com
