You can’t talk about music video choreographers and dancers and not mention Jojo Breezy. For the past few years, he has established a solid reputation among dancers in music videos in Rwanda. This young dancer performed in 100 music videos in 2022, 25 of which were mega smashes. He also choreographed 50 of those videos. Real name Joseph Murego, he is a professional dancer, choreographer, dance artist, performer and dance creator. His love for dance began in church as a member of a drama team back in 2011 and his mother having a dancing background was a major inspiration to him growing up. In 2016, He was so excited to finally make a decision to start dancing professionally after finishing high school. Jojo claims that it was difficult for dancers back then to gain recognition and earn enough money to support them. The dancer who looks up to Chris Brown began as a member of a dance squad however he is now a solo performer. “The development of dance in Rwanda throughout the years has been greatly influenced by social media platforms since we received a lot of exposure and as a result, numerous chances. We dance in music challenges, music videos, and live performances, all of which are well-paid,” said Murego. The young dancer revealed that he dreams of raising the Rwandan dance industry to another level in the years to come. In 2021, Jojo met with Tanzania’s star dancers for collaboration and was also among the dancers who performed at the Chop Life Concert headlined by Joey Boy in 2022. Also, he collaborates with the 7Stars Dancing team, a mixed-gender dance team. Among the music videos hit songs he participated in include ‘Inana’ By Chriss Eazy, ‘Nibido’ By Christopher Muneza, ‘Rompe’ By Afrique, ‘Urankunda’ By Juno Kizigenza, and ‘Edeni’ by Chriss Eazy among others. He was nominated for Rwandan High school and High school Teens Award best dancer 2021 and won both awards. In 2022, he also was nominated for The Choice Live Awards, Bright Awards and Karisimbi Event Awards.
