Mujawamariya urges Gicumbi leaders to be accountable

GICUMBI- Minister of Gender and Family promotion, Jeanne d’Arc Mujawamariya, Friday called on the newly elected Gicumbi District Executive Committee to be accountable to the people, by rendering perfect service and spearheading development activities. Mujawamariya made the call at Gicumbi stadium where she was guest of honour during elections for the District Advisory Council (DAC) and Executive Committee. “The people who voted for you are eagerly waiting for your services, to lead them to social and economic prosperity,” said Mujawamariya. The Minister further called on the DAC to work hand-in-hand for the common good of the District. Northern Province Governor, Aime Bosenibamwe, reiterated the need for the new DAC to accomplish their duties on time. He called on the new District leaders to clear all pending debts within three months. “This is the time to show your commitment to your new responsibilities, as the people who voted for you are waiting to see whether you will honour what you pledged,” he said. The elections brought in former Mayor Bonane Nyangezi for a second term and two new vice Mayors, who were elevated from the posts of sector executive secretaries. Former Rubaya Sector Executive Secretary, Alexandre Mvuyekure, was elected vice Mayor for economic affairs, replacing Ildephonse Butera, who did not stand again. Thereza Mujawamariya, the former Executive Secretary for Cyumba Sector, was elected District vice Mayor for social affairs, replacing Eugenie Uwamahoro, who also did not run for office. Ends
