S. Province business community contributes Rwf 50m towards eradicating Nyakatsi

KIGALI - Members of the Southern Province Business Community working in Kigali, Friday, celebrated Paul Kagame`s victory in the just concluded presidential elections. During the event, they contributed Rwf 50 million towards the eradication of grass thatched houses commonly known as Nyakatsi. Speaking on behalf of the community, its Chairman, Longin Rumongi, said that the celebration and contribution was to demonstrate commitment in supporting government programmes that have put in place conducive measures to make business easy and profitable. “We now have quality services at the customs. Unlike before, it now takes less time to clear our goods to supply our clients,” Rumongi said. “The introduction of Rwanda Development Board (RDB) has positively changed our business operations”.He also said that the business community will not only support government, but its programmes as well so as to directly contribute towards improving conditions of rural residents and Rwandans in general. Southern Province Governor, Alphonse Munyentwari, attended the event that was officiated by Prime Minister Bernard Makuza in Kigali. On receiving the cheque on behalf of Government, Makuza expressed his appreciation to the community, which he gave the term ‘local donors’ with a true spirit of nationalism.“You are Rwandans with the love for your country and the development of others. In order to achieve national development and fight poverty, we have to work together Makuza said.He also highlighted some government programmes that will further simplify business, and strategies for national development as a whole. Others present were Ministers Christophe Bazivamo, James Musoni and Protais Mitali. Members of Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) led by the party’s Secretary General, Francois Ngarambe, also attended. Ends
