For the first time in the history of Rwandan music, more than 10 young artistes are going to headline a concert outside the country. The young artistes, led by rap sensation Ish Kevin, have landed safely in Bujumbura, Burundi, and are ready to deliver a buzzing performance tomorrow at World Beach Buja. Dubbed Trappish concert Bujumbura, The event’s line up is dominated by most upcoming acts currently driving Rwandan music industry with new wave of sounds including trap and its sub-genre Kinyatrap that came out of the streets of Kigali, UK drill, Hip-hop, and Afro pop among others. “Bushali, Kenny Kshot, Logan Joe, Ririmba, Papa Cyangwe, Shemi, Bruce the 1st, Og2tone and the whole gang is now in Bujumbura ahead of tomorrow’s show. We have always had a dream of taking our sound to places, and tomorrow is D-day,” Ish Kevin, one of the organisers of the event, told The New Times. He further mentioned that the show will also feature Burundian artistes such as Drama-T, B-Face, Trey Zo & Rappy Boy and Easy Bo, with the best deejays like Flexx, Kat Lous and Selecta Faba on the decks. According to Ish Kevin, the aim of the concert is to put Burundian and Rwandan musicians together to understand and appreciate their similarities, while enjoying and celebrating both cultures and their already existing historical connection. “For the first time, we are bringing the culture of Rwandan Hip-Hop to the land of our brothers and sisters in Burundi, my second home. Be ready for the best show ever. Any rap fan in Bujumbura shouldn’t miss the opportunity of celebrating good music produced in Rwanda,” he said. The first edition of Trappish Concert took place in October 2021, and the second edition on July 16, last year. The event came to life to push a new wave produced by the young generation in the Rwandan music industry who were producing different genres of rap such as trap, drill and Hip-hop.
