Division one volleyball coaches yesterday wrapped up a five-day refreshers’ course ahead of the start of the national championship which starts on March 1. The course, which was attended by half of the 26 first division coaches, was held at Amahoro indoor stadium under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sports, Mijespoc, in corroboration with the local Volleyball Federation, FRVB. The course was aimed at updating the knowledge and skills of the coaches to prepare more competitive matches, said Gertrude Kubwimana, FRVB Executive Secretary adding that they have plans to have two courses prior the event. Initially, the course, which was conducted by national team French coach Gerard Jouanet had been scheduled to attract all 26 coaches from the 26 division one clubs but 14 turned up. According to Christian Hitimana, FRVB female technical advisor, the course will help improve performance among female teams. This year, six new female teams have registered bring the number of clubs to 12 up from eight. The new teams include Ruhango, FAWE, Rwamagana, Shangi, Nyamasheke, and Mulamba. Two new male clubs, Ngoma and ASPESKA have registered with FRVB bringing the total to 13 up from last year’s11. Ends
