Belgian business delegation woos local investors

KIGALI - A team of Belgian business executives representing 30 companies are currently in the country to forge partnerships with local counterparts. The delegation, lead by Benoit Cerexhe, the Minister in charge of foreign trade, comprise of business experts in various sectors, including banking, agriculture, ICT, and security, among others. “Our companies requested the government to carry out an economic mission with companies here, following Rwanda’s impressive ranking in doing business,” Cerexhe said in an interview on Thursday. Saying that this is his first time in the country, the Minister said that he would be in the country for three days.He said that their visit created an opportunity to meet local business executives with whom they shared experiences. Pipian Hakizabera, the head of trade and manufacturing at Rwanda Development Board (RDB), said that the visit would be beneficial in the country`s trade and investment promotion. “The trade mission is critical in the development of our country, especially regarding the promotion of ICT which Rwanda has put at the forefront,” Hakizabera said. “They can decide to come and set up their manufacturing plants here and sale their products here and abroad, or decide to produce from their country and bring readymade products,” he explained.
