Change can bring good ”It is not the strongest of species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the most responsive to change.”—this great quote is attributed to Charles Darwin. These words speak volumes to everyone else who, like me, is anxious to acquire more wisdom. I know many among us have come a long way, long enough to bear witness to the fact that among all the things that we as humans are able to manipulate, change is not one of them. Life itself is a series of transitions and that’s just the way God crafted it. This might not be new but in an age that is almost completely dictated by change and all its side effects, we have got to embrace it and ultimately know how to deal with it. Take for example, the continuous climatic and environmental changes, its effects and the advancing global technology. These inevitably influence our lifestyles, the people around us influence our choices and character while the constantly varying situations of our economic, political, social, physical or emotional lives remain dynamic. Change is everywhere, all around us and within us. We are bound to change in every force or law that governs human nature and there’s nothing we can do about it! That leaves only one option for those who do not like change or in the least, find it hard to accept life’s guaranteed package—none. In short, if you cannot change, change will do the honor of altering you. Moreover, there are those of us whose minds have adapted to living in a land somewhere between a fairytale and a cartoon sort of world. We believe there will ultimately be a ‘happily-ever-after’ ending in everything we do. We believe in the Midas touch. We easily forget that we do the best we can to get there by letting God do the rest and then we can live contently-ever-after. I do not prefer using the word ‘happily’ because life shifts close to worthlessness without situations to rub us a little bit so as to refine us and make us more beautiful. Change varies and it positively or negatively affects us. Sometimes it is completely out of our ability to control but many times we influence which direction we turns to. I say we can take advantage of this to make our lives, environments, areas of influence and our country better places!
