FDLR sponsors should be investigated

Members of the Rwandan Diaspora in the United States, have joined other Rwandans calling for the apprehension of Paul Rusesabagina and other suspects accused of financing the Democratic Liberation Forces of Rwanda (FDLR), a terrorist group, that comprises mainly of remnants of the perpetrators of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. The terrorist outfit has continued to commit all kinds of atrocities, including murder and rape in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, causing insecurity in the area, as well as in Rwanda, where they have attempted to attack and wreck havoc. The FDLR, should not be an issue for Rwanda, or the DRC, which has had thousands of its citizens killed by these militias, but the world at large, considering that its sponsors and leaders operate from various cities in the West. The international community has collaborated in arresting the group’s top leaders, however, the financers should be investigated. For example, it is on record – with evidence available - that Rusesabagina wired money from Texas in the United States, to the terrorist group. If we are to bring an end to the suffering of innocent people caused by the activities of this terrorist outfit, individuals and groups bankrolling it should be brought to account. By ensuring that the FDLR financial supporters are brought to book, the group’s force will not only be weakened, but this will also send out a clear message that those involved with terrorist groups cannot get away with it.
