250 complete special intervention course

Kirehe - Over 250 members of the Rwanda National Police Force (RNP) special intervention force, yesterday completed a four-month special intervention course. The ceremony that was attended by Senators, local leaders, senior army and police officers, took place in Nasho, Kirehe district. Addressing the graduates, the Minister of Internal security, Musa Fazil Harerimana, said that with the current stability, the government had embarked on training and equipping institutions.The Minister said that police special training was in line with the vision of the country. He commended the police for being exemplary in implementing government policies. “Police has been doing extremely well in championing implementation of government plans. RNP is indeed the kind of strong force a country needs...you are young, disciplined, skilled and committed,” he told the cheering officers. “There is no shortcut...you have to be guided by discipline and serve the population, according to their expectations. Rwandans expect much from you, this is a challenge.” The Commissioner General of Police, Emmanuel Gasana, reiterated the importance of building the capacity of the police. He said the skills exhibited by the trainees, shows a credible and vibrant special police force, ready to prevent and intervene where necessary, to defend the people of Rwanda and beyond. “Let the skills you have acquired be used for the benefit of Rwandans, and others, in need of your protection. It is important that RNP acquires such skills,” he said. Ends
