Family, fellow artistes and friends of deceased musician Yvan Buravan will on Tuesday, August 23, gather at Camp Kigali for ‘a night to honor’ the singer on the eve of his burial slated Wednesday, August 24. Dubbed ‘Commemoration of Yvan Buravan’s Life’, the farewell concert will see relatives, fellow artists and friends sharing testimonies, the memories and the legacy that the singer has left while a number of artists are on the lineup to perform only perform Buravan’s songs. On the lineup are Ariel Wayz, Ruti Joel, Yverry, Peace Jolis, Kevin Kade, Andy Bumuntu and Nyundo Music School band, as well as gospel music trio of Israel Mbonyi, Serge Iyamuremye and Prosper Nkomezi who will perform Buravan’s song ‘Ni Yesu’. Only those who were invited will be allowed to attend the concert given the venue’s capacity cannot accommodate hundreds of thousands who wish to attend. The dress code for the concert will include classy and solid colors while black shades are also encouraged. Buravan, real name Yvan Burabyo, succumbed to pancreatic cancer on August 17, in India, where he had travelled for treatment earlier this month. His death followed weeks of being unwell and seeking treatment in different hospitals in Rwanda and Nairobi, before he was transferred to India, with the support of the Government of Rwanda. His body arrived in Kigali Friday morning aboard RwandAir and was immediately taken to Rwanda Military Hospital-Kanombe where it will lay till Tuesday, August 23, just a day before the burial. Tributes continue to pour in for the ‘Big time’ singer, who was posthumously awarded the 2022 Prix Découvertes by Radio France Internationale (RFI). He won the prize in 2018. Since his death, all entertainment events would take a minute of silence to honor the singer and famous dubbing artist Yanga whose death happened on the same day, leaving so many in the entertainment industry shocked and devastated. The concert kicks off at 5pm.
