Plan International Rwanda has earmarked $300,000 [about Frw161million] towards the construction Gatsibo health center in Kabarore Sector, an official said on Monday. Speaking at the national stakeholders’ workshop at Novotel Hotel Kigali, Eugene Nkurunziza an official of Plan International said the move was geared towards uplifting primary health care among children in Rwanda. We need to empower Rwandan children, their families and communities meet basic needs to increase their ability to participate in poverty eradication programs, he said. The health center will also offer integrated health services including training in nutritional health. He noted that their organisation will basically focus on children by providing them with good health and education. We are currently rehabilitation Kiziguro Secondary School where a new girls’ dormitory with toilettes will be constructed. We also intend to build a new primary school in Ruhuha sector- Gatsibo district. With support from Germany and Canada, Nkurunziza said they would also support government poverty eradication program of ‘one cow per family’ in which they will give out 250 exotic heifers to residents in the district. Founded 70 years ago, Plan International is one of the largest child–centered community development organisations working in 68 countries across the globe.
