Rwandan exiles in Belgium urged to visit their country

Rwandans living in Belgium have been urged to come home and see for themselves the prevailing peace, and economic development taking place in the country. The call was made by members of the Diaspora who visited the country in December and early this year, during a conference for Rwandans living in Brussels yesterday. The Diaspora took part in the National Dialogue conference in Kigali. Dieudonne Nshunguyinka, a member of the “come and see” Diaspora group, who were recently in the country, said that Rwandans were urged to come and witness for themselves the prevailing conditions and achievements in the country. Speaking to The Sunday Times after the meeting, Nshunguyinka said that a number of the Rwandans who have been in Belgium, and came to Rwanda in December for the first time after many years, gave a positive image they found in Rwanda, are helping to dispel the wrong information that has been circulated in some Diaspora circles. He said that they have so far received a positive response, because many who came to Rwanda are well known to others living in Belgium. “We are telling them what we saw and they are asking questions,” said Nshunguyinka by telephone.He further said that they group that was in Rwanda, will travel to other towns in Belgium where many Rwandans live, to tell them about what they saw in Rwanda. He said that people in Belgium have been urged to come and see Rwanda and make decisions to return home, on they own. Nshunguyinka said that they encouraged those who have acquired higher education and are not employed in Belgium, to return home and make a contribution to Rwanda where their expertise is needed. Ends
