Teen New Year resolutions

The New Year is up, new thoughts, new people, new look, new teens on the block and of course new resolutions to serve 2011. The New Year means a lot for most teens. That new shoe is on the way, a “Nu” (like they say) designer cloth is perhaps likely to get added to the closet, or maybe you just joined another year of high school. It’s a whole “Nu” world and experience for teens as the New Year starts. When it comes to New Year’s resolutions, it’s a whole world of humor. If you are a part of the social networking site, Facebook you will notice most of these amazing resolutions. It is obvious that over a million teens are signed on Facebook. Here’s one that caught my eyes as I read, “New Year’s resolution: to stop “Facebooking” as my primary communication with my friends and to resort to using TIGO.” I definitely laughed my head off. Let’s be honest, apart from Facebook showing words and pictures and hearing a voice when using a mobile phone, what’s the difference between using facebook and TIGO? I mean calling TIGO to TIGO is now like using a prepaid monthly phone where you are going to call without the phobia of credit defeat. Load Rwf500 and get 30,000 seconds of talk time. Which teen has to worry about keeping in touch with friends with such an offer? Anyway that was a nice one; I wish the TIGO manager had read that. This guy would be doing the company a great deal now. Still talking about resolutions, there is this one campaign resolution about teens against parents on facebook. “Block Mum and Dad on Facebook,” one teen updated his Facebook status in block letters as his resolution. Can you imagine? Why in the first place do you accept or send them an invitation? Of course, if your mum or dad is sharp enough to be on Facebook then they are using the application as your surveillance. Lately some groups on Facebook like, “I like it when Mum and Dad are not home,” have taken teens by storm with a membership of about 7000 including older youth. I was stunned that even 25-year-olds have joined the group. This means that if parents are around teens do not fully enjoy the fruits of their freedom. (I hope parents are not reading this because you teens are in a fix!). Anyhow, teens it’s a New Year. Hope you achieve your resolutions safely. However, we hope you are not about to unveil other groups or resolutions against the grand pa(s) and ma(s) too.
