The minister of health, Dr. Jean Damascene Ntawukuriryayo, has called on all doctors to ensure that their work covers all parts of the country. At Rwanda Doctors Association’s meeting, the health minister told doctors that their work ought not stop in towns but should reach deep in the villages. He said that people in remote areas are suffering the most, and should be given much opportunity for treatment as possible. He thanked doctors for their good work, but blamed some of them who mismanage work and treat patients while drunk, exhibiting high level negligence which results into loss of people’s lives. Minister further reminded the doctors’ association to constantly revise their activities as the responsibility holders of people’s lives. Dr. Ntawukuriryayo denounced some doctors who simply run after money, living their responsibilities. Many doctors immediately run a broad searching for greener pastures. But they forget their duties of providing health aid to their fellow citizens in their countries, which is not what a real doctor should do, he warned.Ends
