Gen Z and Patrick Rusine thrilled a big number of people who had attended the Gen Z comedy show held at Art Rwanda- Ubuhanzi Incubation Center, on February 9. Organized by Rwandan funnyman Merci Ndaruhutse, commonly known as Fally Merci, Gen Z Comedy Show aims at promoting young upcoming comedians in the country to give them a platform to showcase their talent as one of the factors impeding the development of upcoming comedians. He is using the Gen Z concept to unearth new talents and give them an opportunity to thrive. The Thursday event had a higher turnout than previous ones, as many attendees were forced to stand the entire time because the seats that were available had been filled up. In addition to a big list of anticipated comedians, the show's headliner Patrick Rusine was eagerly anticipated for his gags. Some of the famous figures who had come to support the comedians include journalist Sandrine Isheja Butera and her Husband, Andy Bumuntu, Alex Muyoboke, Fashionista Franco Mabano, Prince form Juda Muzik, Junior Rumaga and Victor Rukotana among others. Fally Merci opened the show around 7:30pm cracking jokes as usual on he will not stop talking about how his show sold out. The show saw some of the Gen Z comedians’ performances like Doudou, Biden, Bouncer, Kadoudou, Bonheur, Cardinal, Gad, Muhinde, Mr Barret, Clement and Admin. “ At my parent’s house in the village we didn't have modern toilets but recently when I visited them I found out that they had cemented the toilet's floor but the problem is that kids now visit the toilets very regularly just to stand on the cemented floor,” joked Doudou. Kadoudou, the lone female performer at the Gen Z performance, made the audience laugh so hard when she made jokes on fashionista Franco, who was present at the show. “I have been applying for jobs literally everywhere recently but I kept on getting rejections and that is why I want to use this opportunity and ask Franco for a job. I want to be your barber,” she joked. The fact that Franco is bald, the audience and fashionista were both taken aback by how this young woman had just taunted him. Gad joked with the audience that one of them can come so they do a joke of a reveler signing to sell a plot of land to the comedian. He kept on insisting saying that it will be just a joke no serious business but none showed up. Admin made jokes about his parents, particularly about his pastor father. “When my father was asked what his regular job was, he said that he is a preacher but he only works on Sunday,” he joked. Rusine coming up on stage around 10:20pm, threw the crowd into loud cheers. He made light of the fact that his performance would be brief and tightly on time because Sandrine Isheja, a coworker on Kiss FM radio, has a toddler at home and had to leave for the child's care as well as get up early for work in the morning. “Everyone please thank Sandrine and her husband for traveling so far from Rugando to attend the Gen Z comedy concert in Rugando. Rich folks are incredibly entertaining, so I wouldn't be surprised if they arrived in a car given that they only live one block away,” he joked. Asking one person if he had a partner and he replied that he does not he responded, “I'm sorry, but it's common because even those of us who have partners aren't content at all; we simply experience stress. The first toilet from the door is the cleanest because most people use the one farthest from the door while using public restrooms, thus I recommend using the first going forward. To help you comprehend this better, Many girls dislike short boys, yet we are the richest nation, just look at Kenny Sol, who is now performing in Burundi as we speak,” Rusine joked.
