Bianca Fashion Hub: When fashion met music

Elegance, music, glamour and moments of respect are what fashion enthusiasts witnessed at the star-studded Bianca Fashion Hub which happened for the second time in Kigali. Camp Kigali was the place to be on Saturday, August 20, where fashion met music to make the show an even more entertaining one. Hosted by fashion guru and TV Presenter Bianca Baby, the annual event celebrates Rwandan fashion while also creating a showroom for all fashion enthusiasts. Despite the average turn up, the attention the show continues to bring is exactly what convinced local and regional fashion entrepreneurs including Tanzanian socialite Hamisa Mobetto and her Ugandan compatriot Abryanz to grace the show. The duo, alongside Rwandan designer Patrick Muhire, were on the panel that decided the show goers who were dressed the best at the colorful fashion night. The show started some hours late given that organisers were waiting for their guests to fill their seats and enjoy what they had in store. As expected, Mobetto and Uganda’s Sheillah Gashumba did not disappoint on the red carpet, while Rwanda Television’s fashion presenter Christelle Kabagire and Rwandan top model Sanduina Mucyo were among key figures whose dress code left fashion show goers impressed. Mucyo’s dress which, she said, cost her Rwf 1, 500, 000, was the major highlight of the red carpet session. It attracted the attention of so many people inside the Camp Kigali hall that the jury named her the best dressed female of the fashion night, winning her a trip to Dubai for a weekend. The red carpet session was followed by the runway as models from Uno Fashion Agency headlined the stage with elegant eye-catching catwalks showcasing the best of designs of different designers who participated at the show. That’s where fashion met music as fast-rising female singer Bwiza performed live during the catwalks to bring a new vibe for runway sessions. Tributes for Buravan The show would no doubt be sold out had it not been for the ongoing mourning of deceased Rwandan singer Yvan Buravan and famous movie interpreter Thomas Nkusi, also known as Yanga, who both died last week. Prior to the show, organisers vowed to use the occasion of the show to show respects to Buravan which the likes of Bwiza and Alyn Sano did as they performed some of the singer’s popular songs “Malaika” and his very last release “Big Time” to honor the legacy and the -contribution he made to the local music industry during his career which was short-lived due to pancreatic cancer. The audience enjoyed every fashion moment they witnessed at the show but Eddy Kenzo’s performance completely proved why fashion and music form a great combination when it comes to entertainment. Flanked by his dancers on stage, the Ugandan musician performed many of his most popular tracks like club banger ‘Weekend’, “Sitya Loss before Platini P joined him on stage to perform together “No One Like Me”, a collabo that the latter and his compatriot TMC recorded with Kenzo before Dream Boys split. The show ended a few minutes to 1AM.
