Tri-nations Cecafa tournament YesterdayKenya 2-2 TanzaniaWednesdayJunior Wasps vs Kenya TANZANIA and Kenya yesterday played out to a 2-all draw in the second last game of the U-17 tri-nations (Mini-Cecafa tournament). Joseph Wamonyi put Kenya ahead after converting from the spot kick in the first minute following a reckless challenge on Ouma George in the 18-yard box. The Serengeti Boys then bounced back on the 19th minute through Simon Msuva and soon went ahead after a powerful strike from Rashid Habib to head into half time with a 2-1 lead but with a player short following a red card to Hassan Kondo. But there was more fireworks to come. Ten minutes into the second half, Martin Lemayian brought Kenya back on level terms after a powerful header from a Timothy Otieno set piece. While Kenya and the Junior Wasps still have everything to play for on Wednesday, Tanzania, who lost to Rwanda 1-0 on Saturday, are certainly out of contention after finishing with a point. To be crowned champions, Kenya needs a win while a draw suffices for Rwanda. The event is a build up to January’s Caf U-17 championship which will be staged at three venues; Amahoro, Regional and Umuganda.
