KIGALI - The Prosecution Spokesman, Augustine Nkusi, yesterday welcomed the indictment of two senior rebel leaders of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR). Ignace Murwanyashyaka the political leader of FDLR and his deputy, Straton Musoni, were, yesterday, indicted by German Federal Prosecutors on charges of crimes against humanity and war crimes they committed Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) between January 2008 and July 2009 German federal prosecutors said that the FDLR killed hundreds of civilians, raped large numbers of women, looted villages and forcibly recruited child soldiers. Speaking in an interview, Nkusi said that the two criminals deserved to be indicted and he hoped that justice would be served for all the crimes they committed both in Rwanda and in the DRC. “After committing the genocide in Rwanda, they fled to neighboring DRC where they committed even more atrocities,” Nkusi said. The UN listed the FDLR among the world’s terrorist organizations. Ends
