Beyoncé and the group Maverick City Music won the most awards (four) while renowned rapper Kendrick Lamar won three. Africa shines Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems also became one of a few African artistes to bag a Grammy award. Tems who featured alongside Drake on Future’s ‘Wait for You’ took home the award for Best Rap Melodic Performance, while Burna Boy lost two nominations. She is the first Nigerian female artiste to win a Grammy award. Tems joins other renowned musicians such as Wizkid, Black Coffee, Angélique Kidjo among others on the list of Africans that won Grammy Awards.
