Thierry Manzi, a former defender for APR and Rayon Sports, was unveiled on Monday as a new player for AS Kigali for the next two years, until 2025. The towering defender, 26, had been without a club since he was released by Moroccan outfit FAR Rabat in September 2022. “Manzi is our player; he will immediately join his teammates for the preparations for the next match. With his experience, he will hopefully help us to move to another level,” club manager, Innocent Bayingana told Times Sport. “He is a good player with a lot of qualities and we believe he will add experience to our defense,” he added. Times Sport understands that the defender put pen to paper after agreeing to an Rwf18 million transfer fee. The Rwanda international’s move to the City of Kigali-sponsored club ends recent speculations linking him with former club Rayon Sports. The 26-year-old center defender has been training with the Peace Cup champions over the past few days and head coach Andre Cassa Mbungo was impressed by his performance before convincing his employers to sign him. His addition could now boost the club’s quest for the league title which remains up in the air with teams in the top five now separated by just six points. AS Kigali sit third in the topflight league with 33 points, four behind leaders APR.
