International friendly Burundi v Rwanda Amavubi Stars jet out today aboard Rwandair Express ahead of their international friendly game against Burundi scheduled for tomorrow at Prince Louis Rwagasore stadium in Bujumbura. The 25-man Amavubi contingent to Burundi comprise of 20 players, three coaches, team physio and the team manager. They are going tommorow (today) and are expected to return to Kigali immediately after the match, Ferwafa CEO Jules Kalisa said yesterday. The team travels minus Rayon Sports duo of Kalisa Kase and Labama Bokota Kamana that was dropped for missing the team’s first training session on Monday last week. Another player missing in the squad is Haruna Niyonzima who is nursing a knee injury which he suffered while on club duty with APR against Etincelles during a league clash 11 days ago. The build up game against the ‘Intamba ku Rugamba’ of Burundi is one of the many friendly games that the local football body, Ferwafa is organizing to help build a strong squad before facing Morocco, Mauritania and Ethiopia in the 2010 Fifa/Can qualifiers. Rwanda’s 2010 African qualifying fate starts on May 31 with a date against Mauritania in Kigali. Rwanda will face Ethiopia away in Addis Ababa on June 7 before hosting the Atlas Lions a week later. The Amavubi Stars will then fly to Rabat on June 21 for a return leg against the North African giants. On September 7, the 2007 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup losing finalists head to Nouakchott for the second leg against Mauritania before winding up the campaign at home when Ethiopia are the visitors on October 12. By press time, Tomislav had not named his final squad that makes to short trip to Bujumbura but below are players who have been in camp since Monday of last week.
