EASTERN PROVINCE NGOMA — The district mayor Francois Niyotwagira has said where there are heroes there is development and where there is development there are heroes. Addressing residents in Gashanda sector who turned up for Heroes Day celebrations on Friday Niyotwagira noted that the country now needs heroes who follow government poverty eradication programs- joining cooperative societies, registering for health insurance, enrolling children in schools and adopting family planning among others. He called upon Rwandans to always remember heroes who have contributed to the current state of the country. The current peace in Rwanda is attributed to the heroes who sacrificed their lives, Niyotwagira said. He added: Heroes are always exemplary; speak the truth and offer solutions to problem [s]. Heroes put things in reality and fight disunity among people. Niyotwagira also urged residents to fight genocide ideologies at all levels which he described as one of the things that hinder development. Everyone wherever you go and in whatever you do, foster unity and reconciliation which will help us achieve the Vision 2020, he said. We have experienced Genocide and its effects. Everyone knows the devastating effects of genocide ideologies; it is therefore upon everyone to curb it. He called on all residents to exhibit heroism in whatever they do. Judith Uzamukunda, the executive secretary of Gashanda sector underlined poverty eradication and fighting illiteracy as among the key areas the sector would tackle with utmost attention.
