KIGALI - About 150 police officers attached to Kigali International Airport, on Sunday, concluded a three-week training in ‘Basic Aviation Security Training Operation.’ The officers were trained in operating in Airport environment, effects of global terrorism on the aviation industry, cargo, mail/currier security and handling, as well as Airport safety. They were also lectured on customer care, national policy on animal export, drug detection and travel document identification. The training organized by the force was conducted in partnership with the Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority (RCAA), Rwanda Development Board (RDB), cargo handling agencies and the Immigration Department. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Butera, who represented the Commissioner General of Police at the closing ceremony, advised the officers to use the knowledge acquired from the training in transforming their work environment. “Promote your integrity, determination and above all, respect the people you serve, both nationals and foreigners using the airport,” Butera said, adding that by doing so, the officers will be promoting the image of RNP and Rwandans in general.
