The ‘Trappish concert’ which renowned rapper Ish Kevin is expected to headline in Burundi on February 18, will see performances from more than 10 artistes both from Rwanda. The concert, according to organisers, will take place at World Beach Buja, with the aim of putting Burundian and Rwandan musicians together to understand and appreciate their similarities, while enjoying and celebrating both cultures and their already existing historical connection. The 'Amakosi' hit maker will be joined by the youngsters driving Rwandan music such as Bushali, Kenny Kshot, Logan Joe, Ririmba, Papa Cyangwe, Shemi, Bruce the 1st and Og2tone. Other musicians to perform at the annual event include Drama-T, B-Face, Trey Zo & Rappy Boy and Easy Bo, with the best deejays like Flexx, Kat Lous and Selecta Faba on the decks. “For the first time, we are bringing the culture of Rwandan Hip-Hop to the land of our brothers and sisters in Burundi, my second home. Be ready for the best show ever,” Ish Kevin told The New Times. Another thing, he said, such moves indicate how Rwandan sound is growing big and reaching places far from its origin which is why young artistes are headlining at international concerts. The first edition of Trappish Concert took place in October 2021 and the second edition on July 16, last year. The event came to life to push a new wave produced by the young generation in the Rwandan music industry who were producing different genres of rap such as trap, drill and Hip-hop.
