Rwanda will not participate in the first round of the Africa (Rally Championships ARC) scheduled for February 9 in Tanzania. Christian Gakwaya, a member of the Rwanda Automobile Club (RAC) yesterday confirmed that no local driver had expressed interest in participating in the Alliance Insurance-Kobil Rally of Tanzania. “No driver will be taking part in the Tanzania rally,’ Gakwaya said.Meanwhile, Japanese driver Miyoshi Hideaki is among 12 foreign drivers who have lined up for the Tanzanian rally. Other foreign drivers include Patrick Emontspool, Zambian ace Munar Singh, Jimmy White, Lola Verlaque, Don Smith, Lee Rose, Carl Tundo, Azar Anwar, Emmanuel Kato and Jas Manga. Tanzania will have six drivers competing in the 600km rally. These include Randeep Birdi, Navraj Hans, Anwar Pandya Gamdust Haji, Ben Pulsar, Pritam Gandamal and Hamidu Khan. In a related development, the route for the Alliance Insurance-Kobil Rally of Tanzania has been revised after complaints from a number of rally drivers. The route has been moved from Kisarawe District to Kigamboni in Dar es Salaam.Ends
