ActionAid consults beneficiaries

ActionAid International has launched a global consultation exercise aimed at gathering views of beneficiary communities which, according to the NGO, will form the basis of its five-year strategic plan from 2012. According to officials at ActionAid International Rwanda Chapter, the move will help tailor the body’s intervention programmes to the needs of its beneficiaries. Addressing the press yesterday, the organisation’s Country Director, Josephine Uwamariya, said the exercise will help them take stock of their achievements and challenges and come up with an appropriate way forward. “We consider our beneficiaries and believe their views are equally important in making our mission a success” Uwamariya said. “Our mission has always been to go deep into the villages to fight poverty, help the vulnerable to get education, advocate for children and women’s rights and help farmers earn profitably out of their activities, among others,” she said. Uwamariya said that ActionAid Rwanda has over 200,000 beneficiaries. Ends
