Rwanda ought to be at the forefront of the modernised EAC railway

To my expectations, The East African Community (EAC) member states plan to modernise the region’s railway system in an effort to ease the movement of goods and people from one country to another. What I am not sure of is whether even our own land of a thousand hills is going to benefit. It is obvious that Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania are to work together to ensure that this dream is realized but is Rwanda going to be part of that after their recent registration with EAC? Rwanda’s imports and exports as well as the country’s business community heavily use both port cities of Dar and Mombasa in Tanzania and Kenya respectively so according to me they should be at the forefront. Both you and I know that once the region’s railway network is modernized, the cost of doing business among the EAC countries would go low. The Kenyan government should also assure EAC members states of the safety of their goods that leave or pass through to respective countries in the region following the violence that pursued the disputed elections late last year.
