Friday Men Patriots 95-67 Shoot for the Stars APR 97-54 UGB Women REG 140-18 UR Kigali Congolese guard Fula Nganga scored 19 points as APR ranaway with a dominant 97-54 win over United Generation Basketball (UGB) during Friday’s Rwanda Basketball league game at STECOL. Armel Sangwe and Dan Manzi added 13 points each, respectively to secure a comfortable victory for the military side. Cliff Owuor’s APR started the game well, winning the first two quarters (31-10 and 15-14) to go into half-time break with a comfortable 46-24 lead. Returning for the second half, the pre-tournament title candidates proved too strong for UGB in all aspects, more solid in defense and quick in attack, which resulted in a 29-14 third quarter win and a 26-16 lead in the last one. After the game, Cliff Owuor told journalists that, “every win is important, so we talked about playing good defense before the game and they all pulled together and delivered.” In another game, Patriots proved too strong for Shoot for the Stars with a 95-67 win. In the women’s league; REG downed UR Kigali 140-18, while UR Huye lost to APR by forfeiture after the former failed to show up.
