Eatingout: Emerande’s new face and services

Located at Boulevard de l’umuganda, behind the FAO and UNHCR headquaters, Restaurant Emerande is just ten minutes drive from Kigali international air port and only fifteen from the city centre. It is one of those few eateries off Kigali city that offer timely services when it comes to snacks and fast food. The Chefs and other staff look strong-minded to make that real touching savour quality, with their menu that provides a balanced diet of food stuffs mainly for vegetarians. The wooden tables and chairs covered with brownish and green cloth depict the natural colour of Kigali’s vegetation. Traditional pots with different sizes are placed in strategic corners with green trees and flowers, fibre mats and chairs that accommodate the customers in a natural environment setting. Emerande is famous for its traditional and international cuisine. It’s a hide-away with ample space for diners who need to eat as they discus private and business issues. Diners mostly discuss the state of the world which makes one fit into their conversations without embarrassment. Trying out the giant grilled hamburger dressed with plantain salad and the tiger prawns, leaves one’s hunger-raised-appetite catered for. Other food stuffs on the new menu include: Naan; plain, butter chilli, cheese and garlic, Ugali, baked potatoes, chips matooke grilled, Nyama choma and tandoori. French delicacies such as orange duckling, seafood casserole, baked guinea fowl, puff pastry, terrines, croquettes, rabbit pie; specialities of smoked ham, home-made goose liver and home-made pasta, fresh water crayfish, prawns and shrimps, squid as well as a selection of traditional and modern saucers.
