Iganze Gakondo, an all-male cultural group, is all set for their debut concert ‘Urwinziza Rurahamye’ scheduled to take place on January 31, at Crown Conference Hall, Nyarutarama. Iganze Gakondo Group was founded in 2018 and the group now has seven members and other members who are not permanent. They sing traditionally while playing different traditional instruments like ‘Inanga’ and drums. They will headline their first concert after they have been entertaining Gakondo lovers in concerts and festivals of other cultural groups. The ‘Urwinziza Rurahamye’ concert also has a lineup of Gakondo singers who will be performing including Yvan Ngenzi, Audia Intore and Rwamarara. Lievin Niganze, president of Iganze Gakondo shared that the initiative for the concert name ‘Urwinziza Rurahamye’ came from the fact that Rwanda will soon celebrate National Heroes day on February 1, so they wanted to celebrate the special day with a concert the night before. “All this time we have been performing at other people’s concert but now this the right time for us to entertain our fans at our concert as we celebrate Rwanda’s National Heroes Day. To all our fans and Gakondo fans we have so much in store for them, they should expect to have a good time. The concert will be extra-ordinary and people should be looking forward to a memorable night,” he said. The Gakondo group is well known for their breath taking and sensational voices that never cease to amazing cultural music lovers. Their amazing skills while they sing together have taken cultural music lovers by storm. Their uniqueness embodies a true definition how rich Rwanda’s cultural really is.
